Governor, Curriculum and Standards
Lara Barnes has over 27 years of experience leading Customer Success teams in international technology markets. Since 2018, she has shifted her focus to Functional Neurology, earning
certification through Dr Melillo’s Neurological Disorders Course to treat children with conditions such as Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Dyspraxia.
Her journey into this field was inspired by her son, who began showing learning and behavioural difficulties from an early age. Recognising the importance of early intervention, Lara is now passionate about educating parents on developmental signs and aligning the foundations of brain development.
She runs Brain Development UK, an online platform offering Parent Coaching, 1:1 sessions, and ongoing support to help families address neurological challenges.
Dr. Jennifer Chung
Governor, Education Policy and Innovation
Dr. Jennifer Chung brings extensive expertise in comparative education and a passion for enhancing teaching and learning practices. Her research on Nordic education policies, particularly Finland’s, and their application in contexts like England, supports Imperial Oak School’s commitment to innovation
With a focus on teacher education, language development, and literacy, Dr. Chung’s knowledge aligns with the school’s mission to deliver high-quality education for children with special educational needs (SEN). Her insights into Finland’s success in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) and collaboration with UK and international institutions introduce cutting-edge approaches to the school.
As a governor, Dr. Chung drives the development of progressive teaching methodologies and a curriculum that promotes excellence for all students. Her work on literacy projects and partnerships with universities ensures Imperial Oak remains a leader in educational innovation, empowering students to excel academically and socially.
Dr. Nneka Eze
Governor, Health and Wellbeing
Dr. Nneka Eze is a highly qualified Otolaryngologist with extensive experience in treating ear, nose, and throat conditions in both adults and children. She currently practices at St George’s NHS Foundation Trust and Croydon University Hospital.
Education & Training:
- Qualified from Imperial College London in 1999.
- Specialist ENT training in the South West Thames.
- Advanced fellowships in Otology and Hearing Implants at Guy’s and St Thomas’ and Paediatric Otolaryngology at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Research & Expertise:
- Focus on ear and hearing conditions and paediatric ENT.
- Completed an Otology research fellowship at Columbia University, New York, earning an MD.
- Published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and awarded multiple research grants.
Dr. Eze’s expertise and dedication to health and wellbeing make her an invaluable member of the governing body at Imperial Oak School, contributing to the holistic care and development of its students.
